Partner: Toronto and Region Conservation Authority

Location: Vaughan, Living City Campus at Kortright

The Intact Bioretention System will be part of the BRE Innovation Park in the Living City Campus at Kortright , an initiative by TRCA in partnership with BRE Canada. The system will demonstrate a Low Impact Development stormwater management system that protects against flood events by storing, filtering and detaining excess water.  It will combine the aesthetic benefits of bioretention with the large volume storage and detention of an underground infiltration system.  The cost effective and low maintenance design is intended to serve as a model that can be easily replicated in new communities and as retrofits in existing developments.

The Living City Campus is a sustainability demonstration, research, and education centre located at the Kortight Centre for Conservation.  The Innovation Park will accelerate the commercialization and adoption of green building products and services into the Canadian mainstream and provide evidence for the value of these approaches to stormwater management and climate change adaptation.
