Biodiversity
Background
The environmental challenges of the 21st century cannot be solved without protecting and restoring our natural ecosystems – land and ocean ecosystems which provide air, water and food. The sustainability of our biodiversity is being threatened by fire, floods, tornados, ice storms, disease, pathogen and insect outbreaks and other ecological impacts from climate change. More specifically, arctic and forest ecosystems as well as human-dominated settled landscapes are at risk.
Recommendation
We must assist with species migration to favourable climatic zones, increase forest cover and reconnect fragmented landscapes to conserve biodiversity.
